PETER O. STUMMER taught until recently in the Department of English and American Studies at the University of Munich. Since his earlier commitments in Aberdeen, Cologne, Trento and Passau, his research has centred on the contemporary and the postcolonial in the Literatures written in English.

He organised two ASNEL conferences and edited the respective proceedings (The Story Must Be Told: Short Narrative Prose in the New English Literatures, 1986; and Fusion of Cultures?, 1996).

More recently he published on the image of China, the barbs of Transculturality, Dalit poetry, the glocal play, and Post-Apartheid fiction in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Occasionally, he writes poetry and he is a keen photographer, in particular of writers´portraits.
